What is fear free grooming?

Fear free grooming is a method of grooming in which emphasis is placed on learning to recognize any sign of stress in your dog (no matter how small), and then guide them through the process to make it enjoyable. The Fear Free approach replaces restraint, excessive handling and forced holds with gentle control, reward based training, and voluntary compliance. This is an approach to grooming built on patience and trust with the goal of getting your dog more comfortable at their grooming appointments over time.

Grooming does not have to be trauma inducing. Conditioning starts the moment we meet, and great care has been taken to set up a grooming environment that helps your dog feel safe and secure. My grooming studio is located within my home which offers a quiet, relaxed environment for your dog.

Additionally, I use natural organically derived grooming products that are produced right here in the United States. These products are free from chemicals that can agitate or dry out the skin and coat.

We accept all breeds, and sizes ages 8 weeks and older.

Special Note: We do not groom dogs on sedatives such as trazadone and acepromazine or CBD, unless it is a medication they have been proscribed by a veterinarian to take regularly every day.

Additional costs are applied for dogs with matting, fleas, or ticks.

Behavioral Groom
$75 an hr

Dogs that present significant behavioral challenges during grooming will be charged an hourly rate.

In compliance with my Fear Free approach, and to ensure your dog does not face any additional trauma grooming appointments may be split up into more than one session. By not pushing your dog too far, we are able to counter-condition them away from the negative experiences they have already endured, and make future grooming appointments more enjoyable.
